Bill and Laura

Hello! We are Laura & Bill from New York. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We have been married 8 years and love doing life together! We don’t have children (yet!), but it’s always been our dream to be able to share the joys and blessings of life with a child. We have multiple friends and family members who have adopted or were adopted themselves. Seeing how adoption blessed their lives makes us very excited to build our family through adoption.

HELLO!

- WE ARE -

LAURA

AND BILL

from New York

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO GET TO KNOW US!

We would cherish the opportunity to provide your little one with a supportive, safe, and loving home. We will do everything we can to encourage, teach, and nurture them so that they will thrive and succeed!

AFTER STRUGGLING WITH INFERTILITY FOR SEVEN YEARS AND MULTIPLE FAILED ROUNDS OF IVF, WE REALIZED THAT THE JOY OF ADDING CHILDREN TO OUR FAMILY WILL COME THROUGH ADOPTION. WE ARE SO EXCITED AND BLESSED TO BE ON THIS JOURNEY!

- THE STORY -

OF US

The day we said, “I do!”

We first met at church. A friendship quickly blossomed as we teamed up to lead youth events. We bonded over our common interests in faith, travel, animals, and family. We also found that we work well together as our strengths balance each other out. Laura is people focused while Bill is task oriented. Laura is an excellent planner and Bill is flexible and good at adjusting to surprises.

After years of being friends, we started dating, got engaged, and then married. Marriage has been a wonderful adventure as we’ve continually grown closer to one another and learned to not just survive, but to thrive together! In particular, we’ve found communication of expectations and assuming the best of one another to be key in keeping our marriage strong.

DAILY LIVES

Since being married, we’ve bought a home, renovated parts of it, and have added a dog, cats, chickens, and bees. Life can be wild sometimes, but we try to make sure each day has a blend of productivity, fun, and relaxation.

WE DREAM OF ADDING A CHILD TO OUR FUN AND SOMETIMES CRAZY HOME! We can’t wait to teach them everything we know and to encourage them to be courageous and try new things. We will help them to have a variety of experiences in order for them to find out what excites them and inspire them to pursue their passions and strengths.

To know Bill is to love him! Not only is Bill the wisest person I have ever met, he also thinks the best of everyone, is kind, caring and an excellent listener. He loves wholeheartedly, has a great sense of humor, and cares about others. In the winter, he will get up early to start my car and turn on the heated seats so I have a warm vehicle to get into. Bill is the best husband, he is a wonderful uncle and I am confident that he will be an incredible dad!

We have provided temporary care for children in our home and Bill never hesitated to get up in the middle of the night to tend to a little one’s needs. Bill is a natural at caring for kids, and my heart is warmed every time I see his patient, kind and loving interactions with a child. He is so handy and can fix pretty much anything! I know he is looking forward to sharing these skills with our future child.

BILL’S CAREER

I’M A MECHANICAL ENGINEER and I work at a company that builds tanks and mixing equipment for manufacturing chemicals and pharmaceuticals. I review the customer’s requirements, perform calculations to determine the best design, then create drawings and plans to build the equipment. It’s exciting to watch the project go from a design on a piece of paper to a final product. I also get 12 weeks of paid leave when we adopt a child!

ABOUT

LAURA

Laura is the sweetest, kindest, and most encouraging person I know. She is always smiling and lighting up whatever room she is in. Laura’s compassionate and generous heart is constantly leading her to drop her own plans in order to do something kind for others, whether making a meal for a family welcoming a newborn, babysitting for some parents or visiting a hurting friend in the hospital.

Laura delights in scrapbooking and card making. She also loves to bake and is frequently making pies, cakes, and other delicious things.

Laura is passionate about music and has been singing and playing the piano since she was a child. Laura cannot wait to share her love for music!

Laura loves children! She is going to be amazing at caring for a child and giving them the love, compassion, and tenderness they deserve.

LAURA’S CAREER

I have been a registered nurse for over 10 years and I absolutely love what I do! With a short commute, wonderful coworkers, a Monday-Friday work week, no nights, holidays, on-call, plus 5 weeks of vacation time, it doesn’t get much better for being a nurse. I get 12 weeks of paid leave when we adopt a child, and then I will be cutting back to working part time. I am so excited about getting to do two amazing jobs- staying at home most of the week with our child and caring for patients on the other days!

Home

IS WHERE THE

HEART IS

In front of our home with our dog, Louie

OUR HOUSE IS LOCATED ON 10 ACRES IN THE COUNTRY AND IS ONLY 20 MINUTES FROM THE NEAREST CITY. It is the best of both worlds as it is surrounded by fields and forests, but also close to museums, shopping centers, and parks.

Our property is “park-like” as we have many trees, a beautiful view, and privacy. In the warmer months, we enjoy going on walks through the fields, swimming in our pool, taking our dog, Louie, swimming in our

neighbors’ pond, picking berries, and gardening. We have a splash park and several great playgrounds near our home that we cannot wait to explore with our child! Our house is situated on top of a hill and is great for sledding in the winter and watching the fireworks from all around the area during our annual 4th of July party!

Both sets of parents, as well as much of our extended family, live within a 5-10 minute drive of our house. We love being so close together and frequently visit one another throughout the week!

WE LOVE SPENDING TIME WITH OUR EXTENDED FAMILY AND ARE VERY BLESSED TO HAVE MANY OF THEM LIVE NEARBY! Getting together with family for dinner, to help one another with a project, or just to hang out and catch up, is a regular part of our lives.

BILL’S PARENTS have been happily married for 46 years and regularly host Sunday dinner where we all gather with them and Bill’s sister, brother-in-law, and three children for good food and fun times. Our oldest nephew loves to come over for Star Wars nights where we’ll eat pizza, play board games, and watch a movie. Bill’s brother lives in California and we look forward to him visiting a few times a year.

LAURA’S PARENTS have been happily married for 36 years & we regularly spend evenings at their home enjoying a meal, watching movies and playing board games! They have a “Nana & Papa” day every week where they have a day full of fun with all the grandchildren. They just love spending quality time with the kiddos and we cannot wait for our child to be a part of the fun!

Laura’s brother, sister-in-law and their two children also live nearby and we enjoy seeing them often.

WE LOVE TO CELEBRATE!
Our gatherings tend to be large, loud events filled with lots of people, love, good food, & fun!

- ALL ABOUT -

OUR FAITH

OUR FAITH DEFINES US AND IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR LIVES! EVERY DAY WE FEEL BLESSED THAT GOD HAS SHOWN US HIS KINDNESS AND CHOSEN TO LOVE AND HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH TWO IMPERFECT PEOPLE LIKE US.

We are both very active in our non-denominational Christian church. We love teaching Sunday school & co-leading the youth group. In the summer, we volunteer at a kids camp which we love! Bill is also on the leadership team and Laura plays piano and sings on the music team as well as helps with the women’s ministry.
