About Michael by Maíra:
Michael is a passionate and hard-working individual who always knows how to bring a smile to my face. He’s a professional guitarist that has toured the globe and now works supporting independent artists at his music studio in Houston. He loves exercising and running outside in nature and never ceases to impress me when he whips up a delicious gourmet home-cooked meal. He’s always engaging our nieces and nephews in imaginative games and activities and he’s the first person they will run to during family gatherings. He loves bringing family and friends together by playing music and especially loves leading the family in Christmas carols during the holidays.

About Maíra by Michael:
Maíra is the smartest, most loving person I know. She’s so good at many things, most of all making a delicious meal for friends and family. She knows how to make a home feel cozy and inviting and that’s why people love coming to our house! She’s a consultant for a variety of non-profit organizations and really enjoys helping them do their job better: serving people in need. Born in Rio, she carries with her a joyous fun-loving Brazilian spirit that lights up any room she’s in. I know Maíra will be an incredible mother because of the love and joy she shares with everyone she meets. And she is an excellent giver of TLC to me and Nala whenever we’re in need!
OUR PETS
MEET OUR DOG
Nala is our 14-year-old lab mix and is the joy of our lives. Michael was playing a gig one night next to an animal shelter and thank God the shelter was full because there was Nala waiting outside with the people that rescued her. Maíra fell in love with her and now she’s been our four-legged baby ever since 2012. Nala is excellent around children and is such a good sport when they poke and prod at her. She loves to eat everything, especially raw carrots!
OUR HOME & COMMUNITY
We live in an exciting and diverse neighborhood called the Houston Heights. The Heights is one of the older parts of the city with many historic homes and tree-lined streets. We prioritize living in a walkable neighborhood and have many parks, cafes and restaurants within walking distance. We also have excellent bike trails nearby and often bike downtown to commute for work or just for a fun day off. We love gathering with friends and neighbors in our backyard to enjoy dinner fresh out of our pizza oven. We’ve built a close-knit community of nearby friends. Also, Michael’s parents live just down the road and love coming to the Heights to get some great food and watch the game.

Thank you so much for considering us for this incredibly brave decision. Our child will be the jewel of our world and will get all the infinite love we and both our families have for them. We’ve been trying to have a child for nine years now and we thank you so much for the chance to achieve our dream. Our child can look forward to learning to play a musical instrument and jamming with the family, many days of playing sports with their cousins and many hikes through beautiful nature. Most of all our child can look forward to numerous adventures around the globe: to meet extended family members in Brazil, Switzerland and Italy, to see old friends in Spain and to get to know the whole wide world and the beautiful place that it is. We believe everyone has a place on this Earth no matter where they come from or what they believe and we hope to instill a sense of pride in our child that they were adopted and have a unique origin story. We will be forever grateful to you for this opportunity and can’t wait to meet you!
