Hello, we are Marybeth and Patrick from Maryland.
Thank you for taking the time to read our book and learn more about us. We are Marybeth and Patrick. Originally from North Carolina, we now live in Maryland and are excited to grow our family that we’ve been waiting so long for.
We know this must be a difficult time for you and are so grateful you are considering adoption. We will raise your child to appreciate your strength and decision to choose adoption.
We hope as you read each page, you see the values we share, the love we will have for your child, and the love we have for each other.
You are also important to us and we look forward to connecting with and getting to know you. You will also become a new member of our family, regardless of the level of openness you choose.
THANK YOU AGAIN. For you to consider us, even if we are not the right fit, means the world to us.
Marybeth and Patrick
The Story of Us
We met each other while we were both in college working at a local coffee shop and Patrick was instantly smitten when we first met. Our love for coffee, music, ice cream, socializing with friends, as well as many other interests, led to us dating. After six years of our love growing for one another, we married in 2012.
We soon bought a house and started planning for a family, but our story didn’t end how we thought it would. We were faced with the challenge of infertility and while that was very difficult, it led us to adoption. The decision to adopt a child immediately lifted a heavy weight off our shoulders and we knew at the end of the journey we would be parents. We both have experiences with adoption that made this decision easy. Adoption is everywhere and for us, it is already a part of our family. Marybeth’s brother-in-law is adopted and while Patrick was a teacher, he knew several students who were adopted.
We like to fill our lives with fun adventures and laughs with friends. We love to try new restaurants but we also like to try new recipes at home. We enjoy exploring the outdoors, other cities/states, and our home city. We cannot wait to have a little member of our family to explore the world with and to help us see the world from a new perspective.

Home sweet home
We live in a trendy and diverse neighborhood in Maryland. Our house is next to one of the major parks in the city and is two blocks from multiple playgrounds. We’re within walking distance to our neighborhood’s main street with various restaurants, shops, and attractions, including the best ice cream shop in Maryland. Christmas is very festive here! An entire block decorates their houses in a vibrant light display and people from all over the country come to see it.
Some of our favorite destinations include: “The Avenue”- cool shops and restaurants • “Miracle on 34th Street” – Fun neighborhood holiday light display • All of the parks • The museums – our city has great museums from kids museums to world class art museums • Summer Festival season
Meet our Pets-RAY, LILY, AND KIMCHI
All three of our sweet fur babies were rescued in North Carolina, where we’re originally from. Ray is blind in one eye but that does not stop him from being the coolest dog on the planet.
Lily, our fat cat, is the queen of napping. Kimchi is the best hiking buddy.
ALL THREE OF OUR PETS GET ALONG WITH KIDS OF ALL AGES!
Working 9 to 5
WE ARE BOTH EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE JOBS THAT ALLOW US TO BE FLEXIBLE WITH OUR WORK HOURS AND LOCATIONS.
MARYBETH: I work in marketing and communications for a health insurance company and get to work from home full-time! I love my job because it is fast-paced and I get to collaborate with various people across the company. I also enjoy the work we do to help people live their healthiest lives.
PATRICK: I work in IT for a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing quality education to under-served cities and schools. I love my job because every day is a fresh challenge, where I get to solve problems and work with people who are truly making a difference in the world. I am able to work from home at least one day a week and when our child is here, I will be working from home as much as possible. It doesn’t hurt that my organization gives me 26 vacation days, 10 holidays, and an organization-wide shut down the last week of the year.

Both of our families live in North Carolina and we make several trips to see them throughout the year and they also come visit us.
Marybeth has a small family consisting of her mom, sister, brother in-law, and nephew. She wouldn’t trade them for the world! Over the past few years, we’ve started a new family tradition of hosting Marybeth’s family for Thanksgiving and it is always a good time.
Patrick is the youngest of four siblings and has a large extended family that all live near one another. Patrick’s family already has four grandkids (our niece and nephews) and plenty of loving grandparents who cannot wait for another grandbaby to spoil.
We are also lucky to have a loving and supportive group of friends, many of whom already have children of their own. We are excited to know our children will one day grow up together and share the same special bond that we have with each other.

Our hopes as parents
BOTH OF US HAVE ALWAYS
WANTED KIDS AND CANNOT WAIT TO BE PARENTS.
We want nothing more than to shower a child with love and see who they become as they grow, learn, and change.
We hope to raise a child who believes that all people are equal and worthy of friendship. We hope they learn from us that they are loved, that there is nothing they cannot accomplish, and that the world is theirs to change for the better. We hope to show our child that there is nothing more exciting than learning something new, and that there is something special about spending time with the people that truly love you.

One last thank you
We want to thank you again for your courage, strength, and consideration. We know that this is a difficult decision and want you to know that if we are chosen to adopt your child, you will always be a part of your child’s life story and we are open to sharing photos, videos, and visits. We cannot understand the stress that you are currently under but we hope to be able to provide you with a break from that. We hope to be the couple that can give you a sense of peace and comfort.
We want you to know that we will love this child forever and that we will always have you to thank.
