Hello and Welcome from the Great State of New York!
Thank you for taking the time to view our profile; we feel humbled that you are considering us as potential adoptive parents for your child. We are Mike and Jess from New York.
In the name of love, you are committing the greatest sacrifice, and we commend you for your bravery.
We experienced the beauty of adoption years ago when Jessica’s sister and brother-in-law adopted their first child from Guatemala. Four years later, they adopted their second child; a sweet baby girl from Colombia. Our hearts exploded with love for them. God blessed us with our son, Cameron, four years ago. He brings so much joy to our life, but our hearts have more love to give. We want to bring another child to our family, and we are not alone; Cameron anxiously awaits a baby brother or sister to love.
We can only imagine how difficult this must be and we pray that the Lord guides you in choosing the family that is best for your child.
Here’s the Story – How We Met, Our Roots, Interests and More!
We met just after high school. Jessica likes to say Mike had his eye on her but Jessica certainly reciprocated with playful flirting. Nearly a year passed and we developed a true friendship before becoming a couple. Now we have been together for over 15 years and have been married for 9 years. Our lives look much different these days than when we first met! Instead of trendy restaurants and relaxing vacations, our days are filled with a wide-grinned four-year-old climbing into bed, bike rides in the neighborhood, running around the playground and stories before bedtime. Our lives are truly blessed yet our family isn’t complete.
We underwent fertility treatments and were blessed with our little miracle, Cameron. As we began fertility treatments for a second child, something felt different. With each treatment and lots of prayers, it became clear that this was not God’s plan for our family. We began to feel pulled toward adoption and we wholeheartedly believe this is how we are meant to complete our family.
A Little Bit About Jess by Mike
Jessica is truly the best person I know. It may seem like a biased opinion, but I would guarantee that her friends, coworkers, and family would say the same thing. Jessica is a great listener and makes people feel like they are the most important person in the world in every conversation. She will do whatever she can to help others. Jessica’s unconditional love for all those around her is apparent in each of her relationships, but none is more important than her relationship with our son, Cameron. It fills me with joy to watch her teach and love Cameron every day, and to see him light up when she walks in from work.
Do What You Love, Love What You Do
Jessica gives 100% of herself to our family also balancing work and an active role in our community. She is a speech-language pathologist at a local hospital where she helps patients suffering with speech, language, cognitive and swallowing problems. She’s passionate about her career and the positive impact she has on those in need. Jessica’s whole being seems driven toward helping others, no matter who they might be.
A Little Bit About Mike by Jess
Mike first won me over with his humor and charm. Although he still makes me laugh like no other, that’s not what catches my eye today. Mike believes that actions speak louder than words and lives his life accordingly. He is passionate and hard-working, dedicated and loyal. He stands firmly for what he believes in and encourages others to reach their potential. This is exemplified in one of the students he coached. Seeing the potential in him, he texted this young man every morning for two years to make sure that he made it to school. This student later wrote in his English final, “I’ve had the chance to meet many people in my life, but one guy always stands out. That man is Coach Mike.”
Do What You Love, Love What You Do
Mike really is a role model, not only to our son, but to our community, as well. He works as a high school psychologist and plays an integral part shaping the academic and social successes for children in special education. He coaches 7th and 8th grade football and is the varsity baseball coach. He goes above and beyond to help these kids succeed both on and off the field. Above all, his top priorities are being the best father he can be to Cameron and supporting me when I need it the most.
Our Home and We’d Like to Introduce Our Furry Member of the Family
We absolutely love living in New York.
We moved to a new home and neighborhood nearly two years ago and couldn’t be happier. Our home is our cozy, happy place that is filled with joy, love and laughter. Our rooms quickly transform as needed to suit any situation! Our hallway converts to a basketball court; our living room turns to a dance party; and our kitchen quite often becomes a restaurant serving Play Dough pizza. We love to host Sunday football for friends and cozy up next to our fireplace on cold winter nights. Our yard provides us with a great deal of joy as well. It offers a great space for a variety of outdoor activities, like riding bikes, running through sprinklers, playing sports and roasting marshmallows in a fire pit. When outside, you can often hear the laughter and yelling of the kids in the neighborhood as they play. We are a part of a community here.
Tuck is our sweet golden retriever who stole our hearts when he was 8 weeks old and continues to steal our affection. At eight years old, he still thinks he’s a pup. He keeps us on our toes with his antics. Tuck is a really sweet dog who likes to give kisses to everyone and will never miss an opportunity for a treat!
Meet Cameron Future Big Brother!
Cameron is a happy little boy who lights up our world. He always has a smile on his face and we’ve been told he has the most contagious laugh. Cameron likes to make himself part of the crowd and he always has a story to tell. Cameron loves anything and everything about sports. He’s all about football in the fall, basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring. Last summer, Cameron spent Saturday mornings at swim lessons and this winter, he’ll gear up at an indoor ice rink. Cameron talks about having a big brother or sister all the time. He pretends to be a big brother to his stuffed animals. He gently kisses their foreheads and asks mommy to sing them a lullaby. His excitement to have a sibling is infectious and we can’t wait to become a family of four!
Five Activities We Are Excited to Do With Our Children
The People We Love
We value a close relationship with our families and feel fortunate to live so close to them. Our parents are loving and supportive and we could not ask for better grandparents for our children.
Jessica has two older sisters and Mike has one older sister. Cameron has six cousins that he adores and we spend a lot of time together. Whether it be family dinners, trips to the movies, meet-ups for ice cream or simply playing in the backyard, we have countless good memories.
We are also fortunate to have a close group of friends who absolutely adore Cameron. We try to get together with friends for dinner weekly and it’s not unusual to find us watching sporting events with our friends as well. We often get together to enjoy activities such as campfires, cookouts, boat rides and fishing too.
“As for me & my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Faith has always been an integral part of both of our childhood and adult lives. We are active in our church community and attend mass weekly. We hope to instill in our children everlasting faith and trust in the Lord. We want our children to see God’s graces and allow His light to shine through them. They will know His love is endless and unconditional. It’s grace before dinner and prayers before bed for this family!
Our Promise to You
As we reflect on our final message, it is difficult to summarize all that we hope for our children simply because we want everything for them. We promise they will feel safe and loved deeply. We promise to offer them endless opportunities to grow. We will cheer them on when they flourish and we will support them if they fall. We will never stop encouraging them. We promise to have fun and live life to the fullest. They will know your brave act of love, and however you are comfortable, they will know YOU. We promise to be our best selves for them and we promise to honor you. We promise to keep in touch and send photos and updates as your child grows.
We’d Love to Hear From You
Thank you, thank you, thank you for considering us! We pray you find peace in your decision and comfort in knowing that you are giving the most beautiful gift to a grateful and loving family.
