It was December 31, 1999 when the two of us first met at a local dance club. At the time, Lisa was still a college student at a university that was six hours away. We really hit it off right away and remained friends for a few years. As time went on, we began to realize we had so many things in common including traveling, a love of animals, and similar family values. We decided to take our friendship one step further.
Our first date took place at a video game arcade. When it came time to say goodbye, the two of us spent nearly an hour having a conversation in the middle of the parking lot. The only problem was that it was a very cold winter night. Poor Charlie stood there with his hands in his pockets and shivering while listening patiently to Lisa talk his ear off. As the saying goes, the rest is history and we have been a couple ever since!
Charlie proposed in April of 2005 and we were married fifteen months later on a gorgeous July day. After eight months of being married, we began trying to have a baby. When we discovered that we could not conceive a child, we tried infertility treatments. Our efforts were unsuccessful and our doctors were unable to explain why. We have come to terms with our infertility and believe everything in life happens for a reason.
We feel our future little angel is out there somewhere and we are meant to adopt him/her. For as long as we both can remember, we have been so excited about the opportunity to become parents. We believe that it is important for every child to have a safe, secure, stable and loving home in which they can thrive. We are ready, willing and able to provide that! We just can’t wait to be parents and are looking so forward to bringing a new baby into our family through adoption!
We were blessed to have found a very nice home in a family oriented community in the State of New York. Our house sits on a half- acre of land with plenty of room for children to run and play in. There are three bedrooms in our home and a large den that is able to serve as a playroom with toys. We love to have family and friends come over for birthday gatherings and backyard barbecues.
Our town is a great place and has so much to offer. We live in a small suburban area that has many beautiful playgrounds and walking trails. There are also animal farms, an amusement park and water park within a half hour drive of our home. We live less than three miles from the beach. Many young children live in our neighborhood and it is a quiet and safe community located in an excellent school district.
About Charlie in Lisa’s Words
Charlie is my teammate in life! His kind and calm demeanor and great sense of humor just won me over. He has an amazing work ethic and takes his job as a railroad supervisor very seriously. He really goes out of his way to help those individuals he loves and cares about. Charlie helps me with household chores including laundry, doing the dishes and making repairs. He is also a fabulous cook and makes me dinner and breakfast at least once a week. There are a few meals that Charlie prepares better than I can!
Charlie has many different interests. He enjoys reading, spending time with family, watching sports and participating in fantasy football leagues with his brothers and friends. Charlie adores our niece and five nephews and loves to play with them. I just can’t imagine what my life would be like without Charlie. He is so special to me and I love him with all my heart. I know Charlie is going to be a terrific father one of these days!
About Lisa in Charlie’s Words
Lisa is a very sweet and caring person. I knew from the moment I met her that she was someone special. As time went on and I got to know her better, I saw how loving, compassionate and loyal she was. Lisa is sensitive to other’s feelings and wears her emotions on her sleeve. She loves to listen to music while singing along and dancing. Lisa also enjoys decorating our home and she is a serious hockey fan!
Lisa has many cousins from Spain who hold a very special place in her and Charlie’s hearts. She is fluent in Spanish and plans to speak Spanish to our future child so that he/she will grow up to be bilingual. Lisa works as a special education teacher. She truly cares about her students and helps them to be the best they can be. I know she is going to be a fantastic mom!
Our beagle Benji
We have a seven year old beagle named Benji who is also part of our family. He is full of energy, very sweet and loves to be around other dogs and people! When we bring him to the vet, he sits on a chair like a human being in the waiting room! Benji keeps us laughing. Needless to say he has quite a personality!
A few hobbies that Lisa enjoys during her spare time are going to the beach in the summer months, traveling, gardening and baking. Some of Charlie’s hobbies include reading, going to the movies, traveling and attending sports events. Both of us are huge fans of the New York Islanders. We hope that they will win a fifth Stanley Cup in our lifetime!
We really appreciate that you have taken the time to look at our profile book. We hope that our story has provided you with a sense of who we are as a couple. We are looking so forward to offering a child a life filled with love, laughter, a good education and special memories.
