Adoption is the legal placement of a child with an adoptive family.
NO. The Adoption Alliance may provide financial assistance based upon your needs. The Adoption Alliance can make arrangements to help you cover necessary living expenses such as clothing, food, housing, phone service, pregnancy related transportation and utilities. Also, birth mothers without access to medical insurance or Medicaid are eligible for pregnancy related medical assistance.
You may receive financial assistance during your pregnancy and up to eight weeks after the birth.
YES. You will have the opportunity to select the adoptive family based on your preferences for your child. Adoption Alliance will present you with profiles of families in waiting. If you are not comfortable selecting an adoptive family, we are happy to choose a family for you.
As the birth mother, you ultimately choose who raises your baby. The Adoption Alliance has an extensive screening process for prospective adoptive parents to ensure that you have the best families to choose from. Every family has an adoption profile for you to review. If you want to know more about the adoptive family, we will arrange for you to meet and talk to the adoptive parents prior to placement.
YES! You can receive photos and updates regarding your child following placement if you so choose. It is our goal to ensure you know and understand all of your options. Please discuss this with an agency caseworker.
The Adoption Alliance provides nationwide service to birth parents. If you would like to place your child with one of the Adoption Alliance families we can accommodate you no matter what your location.
NO. However, in many cases, we find that the adoption process can be less stressful if you are honest with family and friends concerning your decision.
The Adoption Alliance can work with you, regardless of the relationship you have with your baby’s father. We encourage expectant fathers to take part in the adoption process, however if the father does not wish to be involved, there are steps that the Adoption Alliance can take to ensure a legal adoption.
Once you sign the affidavit of relinquishment, your decision is final. Our goal is to help you reach a decision that you are comfortable with before you take that step.
