Hello! We are Katie and Jason from New York!
Dear Expectant Parents: Thank you for taking the time to get to know us through our profile! Though we’ve never met, we pray for your family every day, and are amazed by your courage and your grace.
A little bit about us – we are Jason, Katie, and Madi – a loving and fun family from New York that tries to find joy in every aspect of life!
We think children are so incredibly important, and we’ve always wanted to have a big family. Although we have struggled with infertility, we believe that there are lots of amazing ways to be a family, and we have loved seeing our family grow through adoption. We adopted Madi – our sunny, spunky two year old – last year from foster care, and there’s not a day that goes by that we aren’t grateful to be her mom and dad.
We are so excited to welcome another beautiful baby into our home and our hearts, and Madi can barely contain her excitement for a brother or sister! We hope that as you read more about us, you will see that family truly is the most important thing to us.
Thank you again for considering us. Please know that you are in our hearts and on our minds as you make this brave decision. We wish you the very best.
All About Us
We met in high school, and Jason knew immediately that we were meant to be together! After a few months and a lot of perseverance on Jason’s part, we went from best friends to a couple. We’ve now been together for over 12 years and married for 7. Through thick and thin – long-distance, two different cities, multiple job changes, some adventures around the world, and a little daughter – we are still each other’s very best friends. We support each other, we cheer each other on, we work hard to tackle challenges together, and we laugh a lot.
Jason works in tech sales, and Katie stays at home with our daughter. We love travelling, camping, and concerts, and spending as much time as possible with our daughter. We cherish being with friends and family. Whether it’s hosting a dinner in our home, picnicking in the park, or playing a game of cards, we are happiest when surrounded by people we love.
We see life as a wonderful adventure – a chance to care for other people; to relish the little things; to see as many new places and try as many new things as we can; to invest in our community and the people around us; and finally to do everything we can to love well and leave a legacy of kindness.
About Jason, by Katie
jason is my very best friend. He is amazingly supportive, and always goes above and beyond to take care of our family, whether that’s being our shoulder to cry on, our biggest cheerleader, or the guy who makes us soup when we’re sick! He loves everyone around him so well, always putting others before himself, and helping anyone in need. He’ll spend an entire evening helping a friend move, or meeting with someone who is down-hearted to encourage them, even when he’s tired after a long day of work. He is endlessly loyal.
He has a kind and gentle heart of gold – he can’t pass a kid’s lemonade stand without buying a cup, and he can’t pass someone in need without sharing whatever he has. But he’s also brave – nothing in life scares him, and he charges forward into the unknown with strength, courage, and calm.
About Katie, by Jason
Katie is the love of my life, and an amazing friend to everyone she meets. Katie lights up the room and has a way of putting you at ease even when you’ve just met. She has a heart for others, and is extremely kind, caring, and compassionate. Her empathy for others is inspiring. Katie’s sense of humor keeps me laughing constantly, and she hasn’t grown up so much that she won’t play and be silly. We both have a love for adventure, so I can always count on Katie to find incredible places to visit around the world. There’s no one else I’d rather be stuck on a plane with, or trekking alongside through an unknown city.
Meet Madi, future big sister!
We adopted Madi when she was about 20 months, and she is the joy of our life.
Madi is very funny, with a huge gap-toothed grin that lights up the whole room. She’s fascinated by people, and loves to make friends. Madi’s main passion is music! She is never happier than when she is singing her heart out and strumming her ukelele! Madi has done gymnastics, and we’re looking forward to getting her started with dance classes this year.
Madi girl is beyond excited to have a little sibling – she practices changing her babies’ diapers and soothing them, and talks about how she’ll help Mommy every day. She’s going to be a great big sister!
Our Happy Home
We live in a charming brick walk-up, on a tree-lined city street, full of shops and great places to get coffee. One of our favorite spots is the window seat in our bedroom that overlooks the avenue – the perfect place to snuggle, read, and people watch. The entire neighborhood is full of dogs and babies, and is very friendly and welcoming. It’s a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
Our Family and Friends
We are blessed with amazing families. There are lots of siblings (two brothers and two sisters on Katie’s side, and two sisters on Jason’s side), and we both have very loving and supportive parents. We are extremely close with our families, and our siblings are some of our best friends.
Katie’s two brothers and their wives live within walking distance, and we see them for a chat after work, for dinner, or for movie nights multiple times each week. They are amazing uncles and aunts.
Most of our family, including our parents, and some of our siblings still live in the city we grew up in, but we go home to visit them multiple times each year. We also have Madi’s biological grandparents nearby, whom we are close with and see often.
Our families have been thrilled about adding to the crew through adoption (especially since we have lots of adopted cousins on both sides). They are some of the most genuinely loving and sacrificial people you could ever meet.
We also have so many friends who are like family to us. It’s a diverse, loving, and completely supportive group. They are people who we would do anything for and who would do anything for us.
Our Promise to You
Our goal is simply for our children to know that they are deeply loved and are made to love others. We want to see them thrive, and be their true selves. We will love them and be proud of them with no strings attached.
We promise to encourage our kids. We’ll be cheering at every game. We’ll never miss a concert. We’ll be in the front row of every performance. Whatever they love, we want them to pursue it wholeheartedly.
We promise to have fun with our kids. We’ll take them camping. We’ll go on family vacations. We’ll teach them to swim and fish and play baseball. We’ll buy them pets. We’ll laugh with them and make the everyday things special.
We promise to be there for our children in good times and bad – our love and support are forever.
We promise to give them our best – everything we do will be for them.
About Our Faith
Our faith is Christian and we plan to raise our children as Christians as well.
We are active in our church and the people there are like a second family to us. Our church is dedicated to caring for the community, and we love to be part of that.
We want to pass on to our children the hope and joy that our faith in God gives us. In fact, one of the most important things we want them to know is that God loves them endlessly and overwhelmingly, no matter what.
Our Heartfelt Thank You
Thank you once more for being so brave and loving. We want you to know that we would love to stay connected, if that is something that would make you happy.
All we can tell you is that we will love any child who comes to us with our whole hearts. We will do everything we can to give them the best and most beautiful life. And we will always make sure that they know they were loved before they were even born.
The world will be better because they are in it. And the world is better because you are in it. We are praying that you would be encouraged and strengthened every day.
With our warmest feelings,
