Getting To Know Us

They always say that life is full of twists and turns and our life has been anything but that. When we first met, we knew that we were destined to be together forever. What started out as a friendship quickly turned into a relationship and before we knew it, we were getting married just a short 7 months after we started dating. Of course, our families were hesitant and had their reservations, but the smiles on our faces told them otherwise. Six years later, we consider one another best friends.

How We Spend Our Time

We love spending time with friends and family, in fact we consider our friends to be family. We are both coaches, so whether it is spending our Friday nights under the lights on the football field, or in the gym with volleyball and basketball, we are constantly surrounded by children. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Most of our family lives in Montana, so we look at the journey from Texas to Montana as a way to get our inner tourist and history buff on. We drive a different route each time looking for new journeys and sights to see each summer.

Christopher Through Robyn’s Eyes

Where to start about my husband? Coach. That is how all of his students refer to him. Uncle Monster is what our nephews call him. Son is what our parents call him. I call him my rock. The son of a coach, he continued his father’s legacy on. Now, students call him coach. Whether it is on the football field, the track field, or in the classroom, he is always coach. He hosts weekly football dinners to bring the boys together and instill a sense of “brotherhood”. He helps them find solutions to their problems, but most of all, he listens. To many, he is the positive male role model that they don’t currently have. Our nieces and nephews are our world. Chris is the “fun” uncle; always goofing with the kids and causing more mayhem than they do. He will always be a kid at heart.

About Robyn Through Christopher’s Eyes

Where to begin about Robyn? She is the most caring, compassionate person I know. She works tirelessly to ensure everything gets done around the house and school. She keeps me in line and keeps the house organized and running smoothly. At school, many of the students call her “Momma” because she always has time to listen, give advice, and have a shoulder to cry on. She is the Cheer Coach at school and teaches History and English, but in actuality she does so much more for our students. She willingly gives up numerous weekends to volunteer at various events outside of school. She is the best person that I know and I am truly lucky to have her.

Our Second Life: Teaching

We are both educators and coaches at the same school. We don’t work at your typical public school; it is a school designed for students with learning differences. Chis has been there for 9 years and Robyn has been there for 7. Work is our second family where our coworkers are our brothers and sisters, and we see administration as parents. They have been with us on our journey from day 1. We love our careers because the students and finding new ways to help each student be successful in both high school and college.

Home Sweet Home

We built our home two years ago in the hopes of a little one sharing it with us. We chose a small community with excellent schools, surrounded by great parks, in a quiet part of town. We have amazing neighbors and there are always children playing in yards. We love the holidays, so of course our house is always decorated for any occasion.

Meet Our Dog, Mr. Ranger

Ranger came into our lives four years ago rescuing us from our “routine”. We say he stalked us for a while making sure we would make a good forever home. Ranger is a spoiled dog and has been our world since he arrived. He is addicted to tennis balls! He is a momma’s boy, but daddy is his favorite to play ball with. Ranger is great with kids.

It Takes A Village To Raise A Child

Our parents live in Texas and Montana, and our siblings live in Colorado, Montana, and Texas. There is a reason we love to travel and embrace our inner cheesy tourist genes. Our siblings play a huge role as they are all brothers who are excited to be that one uncle that wins at every game; the role Chris has played for years. Our sister in laws are excited to snuggle and spoil, switching roles with Robyn. We enjoy spending time with our siblings and nieces and nephews. From camping, to hiking, to learning about race cars, our family is our world, and we cherish our summers and holidays with our out of state family. We spend nearly every weekend with Chris’s parents and his older brother and family. It may be a family bbq or attending one of their games or concerts. We travel every summer to Colorado and Montana. We have done this for the past 6 years and look forward to this trip. It is our individual time with our nieces and nephews that we enjoy, as well as spending the time with Robyn’s mom.

In Our Free Time

Vacationing, relaxing, and spending time with our loved ones is how we relax. We both believe in giving back to the community, helping with projects at our school, and of course watching sports. We are fortunate to be involved in various community service projects throughout the town. It may be as small as joining a Walk for Downs Syndrome, or as large as building homes for Habitat. Every year we participate in the Walk for Learning Disabilities. We love going to sporting events to spend time with college friends and cheer on our alma maters. We both love history, and Texas is a great backdrop for this. We enjoy packing the car and heading out for a day trip and learning another piece of Texas history. Finding a few BBQ restaurants along the way is also a must.

Thoughts From Our Hearts

Completing our family has been something we have prayed about for the past six years. We’ve had many sleepless nights and shed many tears of frustration from not being able to conceive a child. This brought us to this journey. This path has not been simple, but is anything in life ever simple? Believing that someone will entrust in us, have faith in us, and bless us with their child to raise has kept us strong. We will never walk this journey alone. You will always be in our hearts, for without you, we would never be able to have this opportunity. You will always be a part of our family, and we will share photos, letters and cards to show how much love your little one has brought to our family.

We would love to hear from you. If you have additional questions for us or would like to speak to us, please contact The Adoption Alliance by calling 1-800-626-4324.
