Charlie and Lisa

Hello, we are Lisa and Charlie and we would like to begin by thanking you so much for taking the time to read our profile. We are so grateful for the opportunity to share our life story with you. Both of us admire your strength and courage and hope to learn more about you during this process. We cannot imagine what you must be feeling right now and want to tell you how much we appreciate that you are considering us as adoptive parents.

We are very glad to share our life story with you. Our beautiful town in New York provides a lovely home and safe community for the upbringing of a child. We have a large backyard as well as several playgrounds and ball fields in the neighborhood where your child can exercise and play with other youngsters. We are a loving couple who can provide a caring, secure and fun environment for your baby. For as long as we both can remember, we have been excited about having the opportunity to become parents. We want you to know what an amazing gift it would be to raise your baby. We will always remind your child how special they are to us and their birth parents.

As you read our story and take a look at our photos, we hope you will get a sense of the love we have for one another and the kind of parents we would be to your child. We hope something about us touches your heart as you consider the miracle of adoption. We wish you all the best in the future.

It was December 31, 1999 when the two of us first met at a local dance club. We really hit it off right away and remained friends for a few years. As time went on, we began to realize we had so many things in common including traveling, a love of children and animals, and similar family values. We decided to take our friendship one step further.

Charlie proposed in April of 2005 and we were married fifteen months later on a gorgeous July day. After eight months of being married, we began trying to have a baby. When we discovered that we could not conceive a child on our own, we tried in vitro fertilization treatments, all of which failed.

We believe everything happens for a reason and this experience of infertility led us to embark on the wonderful journey of adoption. We care very deeply for one another and adding a beautiful child to share our love with would truly complete our family.

In our spare time we enjoying eating out at restaurants, attending sporting events (especially Islanders games), having family barbecues, and traveling to various places.

We feel that our future little angel is out there somewhere and we are meant to adopt him/her. When we think about the possibility of becoming parents in the future, it fills our hearts with pure joy. If you decide we could possibly be the right match for your baby we would love to hear from you.

Lisa is a very sweet and caring person. I knew from the moment I first met her that she was someone special. As time went on and I got to know her better, I saw how loving, compassionate and loyal she was. Lisa is sensitive to other’s feelings and wears her emotions on her sleeve.

She loves to listen to music while singing along and dancing. Lisa is a very dedicated hockey fan! When the New York Islanders score a goal, she can probably be heard screaming from ten miles away! Lisa is one of the most generous people I know.  When someone she cares about has a birthday or special event coming up, she is the first person to run to the store and buy them a card and gift.

Lisa is fluent in Spanish and plans on speaking the language to our future child so that he/she will grow up to be bilingual. She works as a special education teacher and spends countless hours creating lesson plans and engaging activities to assist her students with learning. Lisa truly cares about her pupils and helps them to be the best they can be. She does a great job of balancing a demanding career and building a strong marriage. I know she is going to be a fantastic mom!

Charlie is my teammate in life! His kind and calm demeanor and great sense of humor just won me over. Charlie has an amazing work ethic and takes his job as a railroad supervisor very seriously. He really goes out of his way to help those individuals he loves and cares about. Charlie has done electrical work in the homes of our family members. Since I work full-time from September to June, he helps me with household chores including laundry, washing dishes and making repairs. Charlie is also a fabulous cook and makes me dinner and breakfast at least twice a week. There are a few meals he can prepare better than I can!

Charlie has many different interests. He enjoys reading military novels and spending time with family. Charlie loves watching sports. He also participates in two fantasy football and one baseball league with his brothers and some friends. Charlie adores our niece and five nephews and spends a lot of time attending their sporting events and playing with them. He’s patient, caring, compassionate and really enjoys being around children. I know Charlie is going to be a terrific father one of these days!

We love everything about living in our neighborhood in New York. We live in a suburban community that is very family-oriented. Our house sits on a half acre of land with plenty of room for children to run and play in. We have three bedrooms and a large den which is able to serve as a playroom with toys. Two of our favorite areas in the home are the kitchen and dining room where we set up a large Christmas village every year. Our school district is small and has an excellent rating. Charlie’s immediate side of the family and Lisa’s parents all live less than an hour away so we are able to visit them frequently!

We have a nine-year-old beagle, Benji. He is full of energy, very sweet and loves to be around other dogs and people. Benji always keeps us laughing with his larger than life personality.

Summer is Lisa’s favorite season of the year and she loves spending time at the beach. Lisa has always loved flowers and really enjoys gardening. She also likes to bake for family members and friends. Her chocolate chip cookies are a favorite with her niece and nephews and she always makes sure to bring them for birthday celebrations and holidays.

During his free time Charlie loves to read suspense novels. He loves sports and is a huge fan of the New York Giants, Mets and Islanders. Charlie also loves movies, especially ones that are science fiction or futuristic in nature.

Both of us love attending sporting events together. We go to hockey and baseball games on a regular basis. Lisa is a very passionate fan of the New York Islanders. If she knows she will not be home when the Islanders are playing, she always records the game. We also really enjoy traveling together. We have been to Saint Lucia, The Bahamas, Arizona, California, Boston, Las Vegas and several other places. Lisa’s father’s side of the family is from Spain and she has been to the country nine times to visit with aunts, uncles and cousins. Some of her relatives have also come here to the United States.

We are blessed to have a wonderful family that we love spending time with. Lisa’s parents live forty-five minutes away and her younger brother lives in Indiana. Since Lisa is a teacher and has off during the summer, she will often meet her parents at the beach. We love having family barbecues and eating out at restaurants. Throughout the course of her life, Lisa has been on many special vacations with her family.

Charlie is one of four children and his entire immediate family lives less than a half hour away. We have a niece and five nephews ranging in age from seven to thirteen whom we absolutely adore. We are actively involved in their lives and attend their flag football, baseball and hockey games. Just about every Sunday during the summer, we spend time at Charlie’s sister’s house since she has a beautiful in ground swimming pool. We occasionally attend Mets games together as a family as well.

We have seen firsthand how beautiful families can be built through adoption. Our sister-in-law and a close friend of ours were adopted into very loving homes when they were younger. Lisa has another friend who has the sweetest five-year-old daughter whom she adopted at birth. We are all beyond excited to add a new little member to our family.
