Hi There! We are Anouk & Carlo. Thank you so much for taking time to read our profile and considering us as the adoptive parents of your child. We can’t imagine what you might be feeling and going through right now. And, it is hard to find the right words to show our respect for the courage you have to consider adoption for your child. Lots of love, Carlo & Anouk
We promise you that, should you choose us as adoptive parents, your child will be raised with a lot of love and respect so that your child will grow up as a beautiful, independent and healthy person. Our first priority is the happiness of your child. We are open to any relationship with you and your child, as you will always be an important part of your child’s life. Therefore, we will show your child nothing but love and respect for you and for the choices you have made.
Hopefully, this profile will show you the love we have for each other, our families and our future child. We wish you all the strength and courage in making your adoption plan. We have a lot of respect for any decision you will make.
WE ARE ANOUK AND CARLO, A LOVING COUPLE LIVING IN THE NETHERLANDS.
In 2001 we met each other when we were both going out with friends. Ten years later, after Carlo proposed in Rome, we married on July 1st, 2011. One of the most beautiful days of our lives.
We have a wonderful marriage and we both know having a child will only make our lives that much better. We are so excited to become parents and welcome a child into our home and family. From the moment we met, we knew that we wanted to love and nurture a child. After unsuccessfully trying for many years to get pregnant, we decided to start the adoption process rather than pursue fertility treatment. We chose to adopt from the USA, because it is the only country where the mother can choose the adoptive parents for her child, and we speak fluent English.
Our path to fulfill our wish has been difficult. But our love for each other has grown, and together we are stronger than ever. We want nothing more than to share our love with your child.
CARLO IS VERY DRIVEN; WHEN HE KNOWS WHAT HE WANTS, HE PAVES THE PATH TO GET THERE AND DOES NOT WASTE ANY TIME.
His outgoing personality in combination with his infectious humor are only snippets of how much fun he is to have around. I love watching soccer together and playing family games with him and our friends.
Carlo has a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Economics and has been working for a bank for 12 years. Carlo is a social, hardworking and loyal colleague. He loves sports and I know he is very excited to share his knowledge with our child and get our child active and involved. When he is playing with our friends’ children, I always see how much love he has for children and I can’t wait to see him as a father!
ANOUK IS THE MOST CARING, SPORTS-MINDED AND FUNNY PERSON I HAVE EVER MET. I am so thankful to call her my wife. I like to watch sports, make city trips and laugh with her.
She has a true love for children and has wanted to be a mom for many years. She loves and cares deeply for her family and friends and always makes time to drink a cup of tea or go for a nice walk with them.
Anouk obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Speech Therapy and has been a speech therapist for over 10 years. Most of the time she is working with children. I have seen her develop incredible patience and love for children over the past years and I am convinced that this has prepared her to be a great mother. I can’t wait to see her in that role!
ABOUT THE NETHERLANDS
THE NETHERLANDS (ALSO CALLED HOLLAND) IS A VERY TOLERANT COUNTRY IN WESTERN EUROPE. It is a country with a wide diversity of cultures. People from many different nationalities and cultures are living together in harmony. Dutch people are very open minded, which is why we are sure that your child will be fully accepted for who he or she is, whatever your child’s background is.
In the Netherlands, schools, health care and career opportunities are excellent. Our native language is Dutch. School children are taught English, German and French. This means your child will learn these languages as well.
We love to take part in celebrating the national holiday, King’s Day, or watch the national soccer team at the World or European Championships. During these events the whole country turns orange, our national color.
But the most important days for us are the three days of the Carnival of our city. It is the celebration of life with family and friends, when everyone (regardless of age or nationality) wears beautiful costumes, make-up and masks.
The city where we live is an international city with 120,000 inhabitants, where the diversity of Europe is visible. The city is close to international cities such as Brussels and Paris.
Since 2010 we have been living in the neighborhood where Anouk was born. Here she enjoyed her childhood and experienced one of the best neighborhoods to grow up in. There is a playground just around the corner and an elementary school within only a 5 minute walk. Our parents are living very close by.
THE PEOPLE WE LOVE
We both grew up in a lovely and warm family and cherish the traditions we were brought up with, like celebrating Christmas and carnival together. Anouk grew up with her older sister Manon, who is temporarily living in Spain for work. Anouk’s parents have been married for almost 40 years. Her mother stopped working a few years ago and her father will retire in 2018. They are looking forward to spending time with their first grandchild.
Carlo has a younger brother, Angelo, and sister, Paola. Unfortunately his father died at the age of 58. We are sure he will be watching over us and our child. Carlo’s mother has been working as a nursery school teacher for more than 25 years. We admire her independence and making the best of it, since Carlo’s father passed away.
We love having barbecues, going out for dinner, playing sports and having fun with our family and friends. The last few years, all of our friends have been having children. We very much enjoy having them around and taking them to a zoo or playground.
Our friends and family are fully supportive of our adoption dream. Our friends are excited to welcome a new friend for their children and to help us give your child the best.
OUR PROMISE TO YOU
WE PROMISE YOU THAT WE WILL GIVE YOUR CHILD UNCONDITIONAL LOVE IN A SAFE, LOVING AND HAPPY HOME. The first 6 months after coming home at least one of us will stop working temporarily to take full-time care of your child. Your child will receive more than only us; our family and friends can’t wait to support us in our promise to you.
Moreover, your child will be part of a community in which several adopted children from the US and their adoptive families get together to meet and interact. Like our friend Mio, who lives just a few minutes from us.
Your child will never forget where he or she comes from. And we would love to stay in contact and send you pictures and letters of your child, if you would like us to.
