Ben and Christina

DEAR BIRTHMOTHER

We thank you for taking the time to get to know us and our loved ones a little better. It would be our joy and honor to adopt a child, and we would make sure that any child placed with us would know just how much they are loved by us and their birth father. We really admire your bravery and your courage, and we will be praying for you as you go along this journey.

OUR STORY

Our story began when we met 15 years ago in college. Both of us were lacrosse players and had mutual friends. After graduation we spent a year teaching high school English in Puerto Rico and then got married in 2006.

Since then, we have gotten to watch each other grow up a bit and together have created a good and meaningful life for ourselves. We worked hard to pay off our student loans and saved up to buy our house! Both of us have strong personalities, but share our faith, which unifies us in our efforts to be better. We’ve shared many exciting adventures and together we’ve encountered many challenges, including our struggle with infertility. However, all these experiences have deepened our friendship and love for each other.

Now we feel like old pals and are grateful to have a rich marriage, loving and supportive families, a great community of friends and a warm home. We would love to share these blessings with a child!

A LITTLE ABOUT CHRISTINA

I have loved being married to Christina for these eleven years, and i know she will be an excellent mother. She’s honest, loyal, fun, smart and hard-working. She’s very creative and has made our home beautiful, comfortable and well-organized.

She wouldn’t say it and may not know it, but Christina has a deep and inspiring strength.  She doesn’t ignore or sugar-coat life’s challenges; she faces them and never gives up.

I am most excited to see her as a mom because she is so good at understanding and loving the people in her life. I know she will wisely love and intelligently raise any child we are blessed with.

Finally, she’s hilarious! When I’m grumpy, she can masterfully draw out my playful spirit with her humor and wit. I love living with her, and any child in our home will certainly have fun!

HOW WE SHOW OUR LOVE TO EACHOTHER

We try to be conscious of how the other person helps, and thank them for doing that. We also try to be intentional about having quality time together. Ben makes me breakfast almost every morning, and I make him dinner almost every night; it is one way we take care of each other. Ben is very sweet about telling me I’m beautiful, and he will often leave me a loving note in the kitchen if he has to leave before I get up.

A LITTLE ABOUT BEN

Ben has many important qualities that i believe a good father should have. He treats everyone with the utmost respect and love, and frequently I’m in awe of his patience, generosity, and ability to forgive.

he is also young at heart. Recently, we had a big group of friends over to watch Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Not only did he bake the kids a giant oatmeal cookie like the one in the movie, he set up a trick to make them think he magnified it. Their faces were priceless.

He is brave, honest and loyal. I have never doubted his word, sincerity or love of life in general. He has talked me down from my greatest fears, dried my tears and made me laugh until I cried. And at the root of it all of it is his faith in God. I am so excited to see him as a dad.

OUR HOME

We have lived in a lovely, family-friendly town in Massachusetts for over ten years. We have a downtown with restaurants and shops, many parks and playgrounds, farms and woods to explore, beaches and cultural events to enjoy. We love getting fresh veggies from the local farms, but the beach is our favorite spot to be.

Our house is a three-story townhouse with plenty of room for a little one! The top floor is an entertainment/playroom that our friends’ kids run to as soon as they arrive.

JUST FOR FUN

WE LOVE TRAVELING AROUND THE WORLD and have especially enjoyed visiting Japan, Iceland, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, Puerto Rico and England. We also like walking around town together, riding bikes, playing games at home, and hosting dinner parties. We enjoy connecting with people at church. And living in a coastal town, one of our favorite things to do is soak in the sun at the beach. Christina likes to experiment with new recipes and to cook for us and others. She likes reading, dancing, gardening, and having regular girl-nights with her friends. Ben likes to play sports, make t-shirt designs and build things in his workshop. Sometimes we just want to chill out and watch TV or a movie, though! Some of our favorites have been The Vikings, Friday Night Lights, The Office and This is Us.

BUDDY CAME to Christina’s doorstep as a kitten when we lived in Puerto Rico over 12 years ago. Christina wasn’t really a cat person then, but it wasn’t long before he made his way into our hearts and onto an airplane back to the States! He’s a very sweet cat that has won the hearts of a lot of dog people!

THE PEOPLE WE LOVE

Ben is the second born of three boys to two adventurous parents, and he has a good relationship with each member of his family. His younger brother and his mom live near us, his dad and step mom live in Puerto Rico, and his older brother and sister-in-law live in California.

Christina is the only child of two loving parents. Her parents are hard-working, generous, and have a great sense of humor. They live just a short drive away and would play a significant role in helping with a little one.

ADOPTION IS SOMETHING THAT ALL OF OUR FAMILY REALLY BELIEVES IN AND IS EXCITED ABOUT.

We have a special group of friends, most of whom we’ve been close to for over a decade. We have annual camping trips, cook outs, and epic New Year’s celebrations. These parties include a theme and costumes, and are fun for the whole family. We have really enjoyed watching our friends embrace parenthood, and we have learned a lot from them. Often times we enjoy hanging out with their lively kids as much as them! Our friends are also excited for us to adopt; anyone joining our family will be loved by many good people.

OUR CLOSING THOUGHTS

Hopefully this letter finds you well and feeling comforted and supported during this time of decision making. We are very excited to adopt! It is fun for us to imagine a little one running around our house here in Massachusetts, and we would do our best to give him or her a life full of love and adventure.

Thank you for participating in the miracle of life. We promise to honor you and raise your child with acceptance and love. We are happy to share photos and updates with you and keep in touch with you as your child grows if that is your desire.

Bless you on your journey!
